Ten minutes before the Enterprise’s maiden voyage, Lieutenant Sulu was sprinting to the bridge.

Swarms of wide-eyed recruits fraternized on the deck, making banal exclamations about how the shininess of the hull, or the neatness of the facilities. And, yeah, the ship was pretty freakin’ impressive, but Hikaru didn’t have time for sightseeing. After veering ungracefully through the crowd—because apparently four years at Starfleet Academy still wasn’t enough time for people to realize that the middle of the hallway isn’t the best place for a casual chat—he resumed his pace.

And how nice it was for the recruits to have their first real taste of adventure. At the moment, however, Hikaru had slightly more pressing matters. There was an emergency in a system nearly 17 light years away, that damned helmsman McKenna had gotten himself sick, and now he had to frantically dash across an entire craft to command a starship that’d never even been flo--

Thud.

The first time Hikaru ran into Spock was on the newly-christened Enterprise. And by ran into, like, literally collided.

The force of the impact threw Hikaru to the ground; the individual he crashed into, not so much.

Ow. Hikaru blinked, trying to rapidly process what had happened. Above him, a tall figure was looking downward, unimpressed, hands clasped behind his back.

“I’m sorry.” Hikaru said, gripping his side. Because damn did that hurt. Did he run into a person or a brick wall?!

He looked up. Before him, a man (...maybe?) in a blue uniform, entirely unfazed by the incident. Pointed ears, eyebrows sharp enough to kill a man, and bowl cut of a 21st century K-pop star… yup, that’s a Vulcan.

“Apology unnecessary. However, you may note that accelerated collisions with crewmembers are not an effective nor efficient means of navigation.” Space Jungkook replied curtly, before walking off.
