I feel like I haven't posted in a while so here are some of the fics I was talking about in my presentation (+ theoretical essay) if anyone is interested :) My mind was p fuzzy during my presentation, so if ur confused about anything I said pls feel free to hmu!

Presentation

"An Ever-Fixed Mark" by AMarguerite
- This fic is a canon divergence in which Lizzy marries Col. Fitzwilliam instead of Darcy. It features an alternate universe in which everyone gets a "marking" on their wrist that has the name/nickname of their soulmate. (Lizzy's, cleverly, says "Fitzwilliam." It's really fun b/c Lizzy spends like 90% of the novel thinking Col. Fitzwilliam is her soulmate and being super oblivious while Darcy agonizes over his own soulmate marking that reads "Elizabeth.") Most P&P fans are hardcore Lizzy/Darcy (Dizzy) shippers, so the fact that this fic became so popular is super cool -- AMarg. converted sooo many Dizzy fans including me.
"Pyeongchang and Prejudice" by AMarguerite (can you tell she's my favorite)
- This is a fic in which Lizzy and Jane (genderswapped to Jaime) are an Olympic ice dancing duo (think the Shib Sibs). Charlie is also an ice dancer and Darcy is his coach. This is probably the first significant fic I've read where Lizzy is stated explicitly to be a person of color (yay!) and a queer romance (Jaime/Charlie) isn't shoved completely into the background. I don't have a link because AMarg. is currently in the process of publishing (double yay!)
"An Odd Notion of Kindness" by PutItBriefly
- I didn't have time to talk about this in my presentation (I did in my theoretical essay), but the premise of this fic is that, after Lydia's elopement (in the canon) and Mr. Bennet's death (not canon), the Bennet sisters are destitute. Darcy offers to take Elizabeth as his mistress, expecting her not to accept (it's kinda complicated). However, Elizabeth accepts because like, y'all, she's got no money. It's super angsty and kinda dark, and goes to a place Austen either wouldn't or couldn't have. As always though, there's a (mostly) happy ending and Dizzy is endgame.
"Twenty Months" by Dee12
- This is another "forced-marriage" scenario, but placed in modern day. Basically, Elizabeth & Darcy have a one night stand (as strangers who met at a bar) in which Lizzy gets pregnant. She confronts Darcy, and he suggests they get married for 20 months because he needs to keep his reputation (he's a CEO of a publishing company). Lizzy agrees to a sham marriage for the financial support, but then (predictably) the two start falling in love for real. Some shit happens, but eventually there's a happily ever after. I was kinda iffy on the plot when I was reading this fic, but the writing itself is super funny

Also sick Samantha totally forgot to talk about crossovers :( but they make up a decent portion of P&P fics as well! By far the most popular crossovers are ones that take canon/fanon pairings from other fandoms and displace them into the world and/or plot of P&P. (By "world," I just mean the Regency era -- for the most part, Austen characters don't show up in these types of crossovers.) The crossovers I usually see are between the following pairings:

Sherlock/John; on AO3, the P&P-tagged fic with the highest kudos rn is actually a Sherlock/P&P crossover and not a non-crossover fic, which is really interesting! (I haven't read it yet but here's a link if anyone is interested. Be warned that it's marked as explicit!!)
Rey/Kylo (Reylo); there's a lottttt of this, not so many fics on AO3 but a lot of comparisons and art on Tumblr and other platforms
Derek/Stiles from Teen Wolf; I haven't read this one either (I've never seen Teen Wolf) but "Scowls and Sarcasm" is also super duper popular
Hannibal/Will? (Is Will that agent dude? I know Hannibal slash is supposed to be p popular but I don't actually know the other guy's name haha)
Jaime/Brienne from GoT (Again, not a part of this fandom so I have no idea who these people are. Are they even people???)
Bilbo/Thorin from LoTR (or is it the Hobbit?? idk y'all I'm in like 3 fandoms total)

I've seen very few fics that put Lizzy/Darcy or any other Austen characters put into different novels. (There are some fics that are "crossovers" between different Austen novels -- e.g. P&P and Persuasion -- but these are few and far in-between. I don't think Austen ever states if her novels occur in the same universe, or even if this idea was really talked about around her time.) My current fav Austen fic writer (AMarguerite) recently wrote a fic in which P&P characters are in the Temeraire universe; I hadn't known about Temeraire before this, but it's basically a series in which the Napoleonic Wars are fought with an air force of dragons. The Austen heroines are all aviators (dragon riders) and Lizzy is a captain.
